The Yass cyclone has left no one untouched. Thousands of residents in Sundarbans, whose income depends on the traditional occupation such as—farming and fish breeding, witnessed an uncertain future after the devastation caused by Yaas.
Bulbul in 2019, Amphan in 2020, and now Yass in 2021, the journey of the people have now become a tiresome process. It’s like a game of loss and recovery for them. In addition to this, the deadly infectious Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown have made their life miserable. With no source of livelihood, their future becomes uncertain.
To support those vulnerable sections of the society from the aftermath of the destruction caused by Yaas in both economically and humane ways, Mukti launched the “Food for Work” program. Through the program, Mukti is providing them with a job and dry ration support. In this noble task, “Wacker” joined hands with Mukti and they are supporting the workers with ration goods.
We at Mukti, express our heartiest gratitude to “Wacker”.
The aid is provided mainly to the women workers of Mukti Gram (Purba Sridharpur) under Nagendrapur GP and Mathurapur II Block, who has worked in Mukti horticultural nurseries, for mangrove plantation, and for roadside beautification.
Mukti had supported 150 such workers families of Mukti Gram with rice, lentils, soybeans, salt, biscuit packets, soap, and mask.
This is an ongoing project of Mukti. Mukti is trying to employ and help more women as Mukti is a staunch supporter of women’s empowerment.
