With the objective to keep local people involved in plantation drives, spread environmental awareness and make people realize the importance of all types of forests, the students of Talda and Menkapur Mukti Covid Support Schools have observed Forest Week (Aranya Soptaho) from 14th to 20th July 2022.
Forest sustainable management and its use of resources are the keys to combating climate change and contributing to the prosperity and well-being of current and future generations. Forests also play a crucial role in poverty alleviation and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Yet despite all these priceless ecological, economic, social and health benefits, global deforestation continues at an alarming rate.
10 teachers, 200 parents along with 180 students of Menkapur and Talda Mukti Covid Support School participated in planting and distributing saplings during Forest Week on Tuesday, 19th July 2022 to create a clean environment and prevent environmental pollution. Implementation of this Forest Week program has been possible with the sincere cooperation of Amjam Radhamadhav Samaj Kalyan Samiti. Secretary of the association and eminent social worker Mr. Biplab Kumar Dey along with the teachers of other schools too have been present on the occasion.
About 200 saplings have been distributed and students have planted those in their school compound and houses. The importance of tree plantation is analyzed with the students. The students have participated in a procession organized by their schools. The students chanted slogans in the protection of the forests.
