Sri. Swarna Naskar, S/o Sri. Amal Naskar and a resident of village Purba Sridharpur, near Raidighi of South 24 Parganas, appeared for the Regional School Service Examination in the year 2010 for Group D Post. He did well and was successful in his preliminary, main and in the Personality Test (Viva). But unfortunately in the year 2012, he came to know his name was not in the ‘Final List’ of the selected candidates. He came to know from the ‘RTI Friends’ of MUKTI that his ‘Answer Sheets’ and the ‘Marks Obtained’ (Written and Viva) in the Examination can be accessed through Right to Information Act 2005. After filing his RTI Application (Guided by RTI Friends of MUKTI) and his ‘First Appeal’, he was provided with the marks obtained by him that was 16.67. He also accessed through a Right to Information application the marks obtained by the last empanelled candidate published in the ‘Final List’, which was 16.17. Armed with this information, he approached the Hon’ble Calcutta High Court for justice. The Single Bench and Division Bench of the Hon’ble Calcutta High Court both ruled in his favor and directed the Regional School Service Commission (Southern Region) to take appropriate steps as expeditiously as possible, to empanel his name for the Group D Post and to accommodate him against the existing vacancy. Finally, after a 6-year long struggle, Swarna Naskar got the deserved job and has joined as a Group D staff of a local school.
