On 28th January, 2021 the officials of SMALL INDUSTRIES DEVELOPMENT BANK OF INDIA (SIDBI), Mr. Bikas Paswan and Mr. Asim Baidya visited Mukti SAM office to meet the Purba Sridharpur forum committee members at Mukti Gram. Mr. Paswan came from Delhi and Mr. Baidya from Guwahati. After visiting Purba Sridharpur they met 400 MCDF members of Kankandighi branch and 14 Mukti staffs at Raidighi Office on 29th January.
They came around 3:30 PM. MCDF members along with their President Mrs. Manasi Halder greeted them with bouquet of flowers. The meeting was attended by 200 MCDF members ranging an age group from 20-50 years. Mukti core committee members Mr. Chittaranjan Halder, Mr. Palan Chandra Sarkar , Mr. Subarno Kar, Mr. Raghunath Bairagi , Mukti staffs and volunteers were also present.
Mukti will train 100 women for food processing and soft toys. The program will start from February at Kankandighi. To support those women and also to motivate more the guests visited Mukti.
SIDBI is the Primary Financial Institution for promoting, developing and financing MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) sector. They explained the members why saving is important for the uncertain future to come and how to plan (be it short, medium or long term) for saving. They clarified the difference between investment and expense in a very simple but interesting manner. They suggested increasing income by decreasing expenses. They wanted to know about the needs of the members.
Mrs. Manasi Halder, the President of the forum committee explained about the difficulties and needs of the members to the guests. Due to salinity in soil one time harvest in a year is possible in Sunderban. Male members of the family have to work as migrant laborers to run the family. The Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown had made the situation more terrible. The urge has made them to be self –reliant. There are 1700 members in whole Purba Sridharpur branch. She requested the guests to assist all of them.
The guests thanked the members for sharing their problems and told that the purpose of the visit was to understand their problems first hand. They assured all their support. Their assurance made the members more motivated and confident.
The meeting ended at 5:30 PM. Mukti staffs took them to the proposed construction site of Mukti SAM Office building.
