At 11:30 AM, Laila was centered at about 100km at the West of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Laila who was classified initially as a 2A tropical cyclone in Saffir-Simpson scale, turn now in a 1A cyclonic storm, meaning that Laila is weakening after hit yesterday the A.P coasts. Now Laila winds are 45-55 km/h speed, with gust at 65km/h, this speed of winds is expected for the next 12 hours. Yesterday (May, 20th), winds were speed at 125-130km/h.
During the 36 coming hours, all Orissa will suffer heavy and very heavy rains. West Bengal will suffer heavy rain during the next 48 hours.
According to the Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP), Laila should move in a northeasterly direction. In 12 hours, Laila will decrease in intensity after reaching the North coastal A.P but there is still a possibility of re-emergence over the sea where Laila could gain in intensity.
On May 20th, at 9:00 UTC (14:32 IST) Laila was close to Bapatla, Guntur District, AP. According to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Laila could reemerge over the nother Bay of Bengal after 46 hours and accelerate east-northeastward toward eventual landfall over or near South-eastern Bangladesh.

– Fisherman lost: 262 boats (260 Prakasham district). 1,450 boats damaged (seven districts).
– Very heavy rain and strong winds continue in Prakasam and Guntur districts, heavy rain and strong winds in Nellore and Khrisna districts.
– Ongole town and dozens of villages in Prakasam district marooned when the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) began rescue and relief operations.

Actual government effort:
