Activities done in last year –

• Attempts towards Developing Climate Resilient Ecosystem –

Organic Farming: 551 progressive farmers have been involved in organic farming. More than 162 training and awareness meetings were held.

Housing: Mukti has 3 cyclone tolerant model houses on its own campus. More than 100 villagers have applied for cyclone tolerant housing support. 48 beneficiaries are being given support for making the first floor of their house.

• Ecological Restoration –

Mangrove Forestation: 1.70 lakhs Mangroves planted on the riverside of Bhubaneswari covering 8-hectare land. We have nearly 1 lakhs of Mangrove saplings in the nursery, ready for plantation.

Vetiver Promotion: 10,000 vetiver grass are planted covering 1km and on the Bhubaneswari riverside. We have 7000 vetiver saplings for future plantations. Roadside Coconut Plantation: Almost 5000 coconut saplings were planted on the roadside last year.

• Cyclone Tolerant Environment –

Housing: Mukti has made three cyclone tolerant houses on its own campus. The main feature of these houses is they can stand against high cyclones that very often attack and destroys Sundarbans’ ecosystem.

People are also motivated by those model houses as the equipment are available locally like thatch, dome, bamboo etc.

Almost 3 lakhs of Mangroves have been planted since inception.	More than 551 farmers are already practicing organic farming.
Almost 50,000 coconut trees were planted since inception.	Almost 80% of people are made aware of the role of Mangroves in protecting Sunderbans.
Nearly 0.2* Million trees of various species were distributed to rural women	Save the Sunderbans Campaign was held.
We are able to give livelihood support to more than 10,800* women.	Sunderban Diwas was celebrated
Nearly 6000 farmers trained in organic farming.	More than 100 beneficiaries have applied for Mukti’s cyclone tolerant housing support

Future Plans –

Mangrove – Nearly 3-5 lacs of Mangrove plantation will be covered next year.  Inland Mangrove plantation is planned.

Coconut – 30,000 coconut plantation next year.

Housing – 800 beneficiaries will be provided cyclone tolerant housing support in the future, Cyclone tolerant guest house is being built.
