Plastic pollution has emerged as one of the most urgent environmental challenges in the last five years as plastic waste generation has more than doubled and the waste has always been a severe threat to public health, the environment and cleanliness. Mukti addressed this scenario by launching the Plastic Waste Cleanliness program to keep rural villages clean, hygienic and create a litter-free environment. Mukti took a decision for Purba Sridharpur village to maintain cleanliness and make the village a plastic-free village in a bid to contribute to saving the environment.
The area of Purba Sridharpur is 18 square km. Mukti has appointed one “Mukti Sathi” who will help to clean the plastic waste regularly. He is using an iron rod with a hook on the top and a synthetic bag to collect the plastic waste. He is disposing of the waste in a particular place. He is working under the “Food for Work” project of Mukti.
