Mukti organized a PAR (Participatory Action Research) and community-led Advocacy meeting with the Dakkhin Kashinagar women group (a Muslim community-led group) as part of the ACV (Amplifying Community Voice) project on 16th November 2022. Along with 20-25 members of the women’s group, some pregnant women from Kuyemuri attended the meeting to voice their concerns. Members of ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), Asha workers, and the first ANM (Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife) of Herambagopalpur GP participated in the meeting.
The Dakkhin Kashinagar women’s group is doing continuing research on personal, social and general issues of the people of their region. Through this research, the need for a free ambulance service for rural pregnant women was identified raised. Since the advent of Covid, an earlier ambulance service had been discontinued. The meeting was organized to discuss the issue raised by ACV members with various stakeholders.
The group decided to gather information on why the service was stopped, how to start it again, how many people were affected by the discontinuation of the service, what was the ambulance fare, etc. After gathering the data, another meeting was decided to be organized to solve the problem.
