The operations director of Mukti Mr. Soumitra Bose visited different project sites of Mukti to get a detailed knowledge of the projects and to meet Mukti staff and beneficiaries. He has spent two days, 5th and 6th July 2022 in Mathurapur block II.
On 5th July he met with the MCDF (Mukti Community Development Fund) members of the Raidighi branch and asked about their activities. He has met with the Kankandighi MCDF branch women leader and viewed the training center. In the evening he participated in a discussion with Mukti working committee members and members related to the model village project. He took note of all the projects organized in Model Village and expressed his opinion accordingly.
On 6th July he visited Mukti Support Kishalaya Schools and Purba Sridharpur MSS (Mukti Support School). He has interacted with the teachers and students of both schools. After meeting the students he went to view the nurseries of Mukti and run through the Coconut and Dragon Fruit plantation sites. He has communicated with the MCDF workers who are connected with the “Food for Work” project by visiting the Mukti ration shop. He joined a conversation with SAM (Sustainable Agricultural Movement) and Education team. He has participated in a VOICE training session.
While sharing his experience and view he said, “Visiting the projects of my NGO MUKTI at Sunderbans during the last two days was such a humbling and exciting experience. Meeting the children in our schools, the Gram clinics and meeting some of the thousands of women from self-help groups has been a mesmerizing moment. The efforts in protecting the environment by creating embankments and plantations, digging ponds for providing drinking water and building cyclone resistance homes have fascinated me. Beautifying the village roads by creating hedges and lighting them is an unprecedented plan of Mukti. Creating livelihood opportunities through vocational training and employment exchange MUKTI is being able to brighten the futures of the youths of Sundarban. The unique “Food for Work” scheme is providing self-respect to the beneficiaries. All being the vision of the Founder-President Mr. Sankar Halder ( who grew up there) and the support of the proud villagers who have worked along with the Mukti team.”
