MUKTI’s 5th General Meeting was held on 22nd January 2017, at the office of the Sustainable Agriculture Movement (SAM) project in Raidighi, South 24 Pgs. It was a well-attended meeting that saw enthusiastic participation from the audience.
The meeting was convened by Mr. Biswanath Mandal as Chairman. Staff and Board of Trustees were welcomed and felicitated followed by lightning of the lamp. Mr. Biswanath Mandal shared a brief on the birth of MUKTI and shared the agenda of the meeting. He requested the Secretary to share his words. Secretary, Mr. Sankar Halder, gave a detailed overview of the progress of MUKTI during the past 2 years. He said MUKTI was going through a very important transitional phase where many transformations are happening. He shared two of his positive observations during his tenure with MUKTI during the last 2 years: one was regarding the involvement of women in MUKTI, especially in the fast-growing MCDF project. The other observation was regarding MUKTI’s success in maintaining political non-alignment. He also discussed about strengthening the rules and regulations of MUKTI. He gave thanks to all persons who have directly and indirectly remained involved and helped the organization to grow.
Mr. Gora Sengupta, guest from MUKTI Australia, also gave thanks to MUKTI for inviting him for such an important meeting. He discussed about his involvement in MUKTI and the nature of activities of MUKTI Australia. He was very glad to be part of MUKTI. He said that he had already been sponsoring few students under TSS project since last few years and is currently exploring further avenues of involvement with MUKTI.
Mr. Biswanath Mandal requested the staff present to make comments on the views presented by the Secretary and requested everybody to share their opinions relevant to the activities and growth of MUKTI.
Several staff and teachers like Arghya, Subimal Guria, Nirapada Halder, Anil Das, Chitto Halder, Rajani Kapat, Raghunath Bairagi, Sukanya Nath, Ashim Das, Sudarsan Dey etc. had presented their views in brief. Each of them gave their valuable and expert suggestions towards various projects.
After the lunch break, Mr. Sankar Halder presented his speech. He discussed about the growth of MUKTI, involvement of volunteers and working strategy of MUKTI. He assured all kinds of cooperation in overcoming the shortcomings and shared future plans of the various projects of MUKTI. He also addressed the concerns raised by the staffs on the implementation of the projects.
After the speech, Mr. Biswanath Mandal declared that the existing Board (2014-16) was being dissolved as per the norms. During this, he also welcomed all to participate in the formation of the new board. The following names were suggested for the new Board of Trustees in the year 2017:

From this year, MUKTI has decided to have a separate group of people to play an advisory role and guide the board. This team will stay outside the board and will take part in strategic discussions. Following people will form the Advisory group for this year:

All the staffs present in the meeting gave their consent to the names for the New Board of Trustees and the Advisory Group. Mr. Biswanath Mandal thanked all of them to support this formation. Mr. Saunak Bhattacharyya also gave thanks over the phone. He was very glad to be supported like this and hoped to give his best for this organization. The meeting came to an end at 4.15 pm with thanksgiving by Mr.Biswanath Mandal.
