Mukti volunteers of Egra block, Purba Medinipur district celebrated their first “SankalpaDiwas” on 23rd January 2023. Around 1,550 people including MSS (Mukti Support School) and Kishalaya students, teachers, SHG (Self Help Group) members, local philanthropists, volunteers of Mukti from Sahara, Gopinathpur and Shunia Gram Panchayats of Egra block participated in the program. Mr. Ritish Shyamal, the project coordinator of Egra block, along with other Coordinators of the three GPs organized the program.
The event started with the selection of Dr. Ramjibon Maiti as the president of the program. Dr. Maiti hoisted the national flag. Mr. Pradip Kumar Jana adorned the post of the chief guest. Among the other distinguished guests present at the event were Mr. Bani Kumar Maity–Sponsor of the Egra block MSS and a social worker; Mrs. Shantilota Das – Panchayat Pradhan; Mr. Prabhupada Das – Executive Officer; Mr. Tapan Kumar Das – ex headmaster of Shipur K. Higher Secondary School; Mr. Sorbessor Bera – teacher-in-charge of Shipur K. Higher Secondary School; Mr. Ramdulal Maity –Sahara GP Mukti advisory member; Mrs. Mitarani Jana Shyamal – President of Sahara GPSHG and primary school teacher; and Mr. Shibabrata Das –headmaster of a primary school in Sahara GP. They brightened up the program with their valuable speeches. They urged people to take a pledge to serve people with goodwill and to let go of discrimination and envy. The inaugural song – “Agunerporoshmoni” was sung by two Kishalaya and MSS teachers and an MSS student.
A drawing competition, on the theme of “Model Village”, was held for the Kishalaya and MSS students. Crayons and drawing paper were distributed to the participants.585 students from classes I to X were divided into 4 groups (classes I-II, III-IV, V- VII and VIII- X). Geometry boxes were given to the first and second-place winners and drawing books were given to the third, fourth and fifth-place winners.
A quiz competition was organized for the students of classes V – X. The 48 participants were divided into 8 groups of 6. The first and second-place winners were given geometry boxes, and the third-place winner was given a water bottle.
8 children and 18 SHG members participated in the musical chair. Water bottles were given to the first-, second and third-place winners.
To bind people in the bonds of goodwill, a grand community picnic was organized. 3 groups were formed. 1,550 people irrespective of age, gender, social status, or religion enjoyed a hearty meal of rice, cress, potato-cauliflower curry, paneer, chatni and papad while basking in the sunlight like one family.
In the evening, under the direction of the MSS teacher Mr. Pabitra Jana, a meme was enacted on environmental awareness. 8 MSS students of classes IX and X took part in the meme.
Mukti provided one ambulance and 3 oxygen concentrators for the deprived patients of Egra block. Mrs. Shantilota Das, the Panchayat Pradhan, inaugurated the ambulance service.
The program ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. Ritish Shyamal.
