Mukti TSS Sponsor Student Meeting between Mr. Debkumar Bondopadhyay and Students

On 24^th January 2022, Monday Mukti TSS (Talented Student Sponsorship) team organizes a virtual sponsor-student meet between Mr. Debkumar Bandyopadhyay and his 4 sponsored students – Kuntal Mukhopadhyay, Sourav Halder, Deepshikha Dutta and Siddhartha Moule. To meet the students and to know about them Mrs. Bandyopadhyay also joined the meeting. This is their first meeting.

Growing up in poverty, students face tough challenges: hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and medical services, social discrimination and isolation. The situation has become more difficult due to Covid-19. Students are going through a very hard time. This can negatively affect brain development and long-term well-being.

Support of their parents, sponsors, teachers and friends during this vulnerable time helps them to set their own goals to build a life free from poverty. To ease the worries of the students, Mukti TSS has conducted a meeting where both the sponsor and the students can interact with each other, the students can discuss the future plan, goals and the sponsor can help them with guidelines.

Mukti expresses sincere thanks to Mr. Bandyopadhyay for helping the students to see beyond the daily struggles of life in poverty. With support from people like you, Mukti can help students get the health care, education, life skills, job-readiness training and confidence they need to create lasting change in their lives and communities. Mukti believes that together, we will be able to end poverty for good.

Mr. Bandyopadhyay is associated with Mukti from this academic session, 2021-22. He stays at Alipur Avenue, Kolkata. He is an IIT Engineer and is working as a professional in Private Sector. He is sponsoring one Engineering and three Science categories students.

Kuntal Mukhopadhyay is presently pursuing B.Sc. 3rd year with Chemistry Honors from Jadavpur University. He is a resident of Kalagachia village in Hooghly, West Bengal. His younger sister is a class XI student, science stream. His father works as a local priest and does seasonal farming. But they are not enough to sustain the family. After completing his graduation he wishes to pursue M.Sc. from IIT. Sponsorship will not solve all of their problems but it will allow Kuntal to continue his education and bring hope to his family.

Sourav Halder is currently pursuing B.Sc. 1st year with Chemistry Honors from Jadavpur University. He belongs to a nuclear family with his parents and a younger sister. He stays at Raidighi village under south 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. His father is a daily laborer. However, his father’s work is limited, which has created difficulties in providing for their family. Sourav is a very ambitious student and is focused too. He wants to support his family in the future and alleviate his father’s financial burdens.

Deepshikha Dutta is currently pursuing B.Sc. Nursing 1st year from Viswabharathi Group of Institution, Bangalore. She resides with her parents and younger sister at Nadiha village under Purulia District, West Bengal. Her younger sister is pursuing class XI, Science stream. Her father runs a small Betel shop near their locality. However, the income is unpredictable, so they have not been able to meet all financial needs, including education. She dreams of becoming a nurse someday and helping deprived people. She has been motivated by her aunt’s daughter and has chosen this noble profession.

Siddhartha Moule is pursuing B.Tech, Electrical department 2nd year from Ramkrishna Mahato Govt. Engineering College in Purulia. He lives with his parents and elder brother who wants to pursue MA. His father works as a daily laborer in some other people’s land which has not been easy for the family to meet their necessities. Due to their limited financial resources, his parents are unable to pay for their two brothers’ education.

During their long discussion, Mr. Bandyopadhyay guided the students to achieve their ambition. He advised them to learn spoken English, computers and to have up-to-date knowledge of technology. He shared his own working experience, how he has faced challenges and overcome them. He assured his help and guidance all through their career. He told them never to give up hope even in the most adverse time.

Fascinated by the amiable behavior of Mr. and Mrs. Bandopadhyay, the students spontaneously told him about their problems, shared their dreams. They talked about their individual opinion regarding online education. They thanked Mr. Bandopadhyay for guiding them as a guardian and to be their mentor.

The meeting ended with a promise to meet again and by remembering many happy moments.
