Mukti Organized Meeting for Expansion of Animal Husbandry

On 23rd August 2022 Mukti conducted a preliminary meeting with the selected beneficiaries who are interested to earn a livelihood through animal husbandry.  Projects related to animal husbandry are now looked after by the staff associated with SAM (Sustainable Agricultural Movement) Project. Under their prosecution, this meeting has been held at the Mukti SAM office.

Until now, animal husbandry in Mukti village meant Quail, Turkey and Karaknath chicken rearing. In addition to trying to increase the scope of animal husbandry, along with these three types of birds, Koyler chicken, Swan, Chinese duck, Rabbit and Titir (grey francolin birds) these animals and birds will also be reared.

All the issues that have been discussed in the initial discussion are as follows-

1. It has been ascertained whether they were really interested in rearing these animals.
2. They have been informed about certain conditions of working on animal husbandry with Mukti:
3. a) Mukti will support them partially to build cages for the farm and they will have to spend themselves for the rest.
4. b) Mukti will support them with baby birds or animals but the responsibility of raising them is entire will be on the beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will work under Mukti’s “Food for Work” project and will receive food and financial assistance in monthly installments.
5. c) Mukti will give them instructions on what size or design the rooms of the farm will be made of.
6. The amount of honorarium has also been discussed with them.
7. The breeder shall have no claim on the produce. Mukti will market all products produced from the farm such as poultry eggs and meat.

All these issues have been discussed in the preliminary discussion. If Mukti approves the proposals accepted in the discussion then the next work like making the farm, procuring animals and birds for the farm etc. will start.
