Mukti, on the occasion of WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY (WED) 2022 has organized several programs to celebrate Mother Nature. As the first step of this celebration Mukti has organized special discussion programs as an awareness event on 31st and 1st June 2022 in its various support schools to encourage awareness and action for the protection of the environment. 884 attendees including 854 students and 30 teachers of 6 MSSs (Damkal, Baradanagar, Purba Sridharpur, Jogendrapur, Purba Jata and Uttar Kankandighi) have participated in the discussion program.
The teachers of MSSs explained to the students the importance of the day and awaken their sense of responsibility toward protecting the environment. The students have been aware of the threat to the environment due to rising pollution levels and climate change, air pollution, plastic pollution, illegal wildlife trade, sustainable consumption, sea-level increase, food security, the importance of conserving the environment and negating the impact of human activity on the environment etc.
While explaining the role and responsibility of the students toward the environment the teachers told them that besides education they can engage their leisure time for the cause of nature like planting trees, cleaning campuses, taking care of birds and animals and respecting them and can by practicing good habits like ensuring optimum use of paper, switching off all electronic devices from plug point when not in use, eating natural organic food, saving water – ensure to keep the water taps off when not in use, pour the remaining water to plants instead of draining it into sinks, avoid cutting or damaging trees or flowers on plants, avoid spitting in public places etc.
In addition to providing knowledge to teach students some practical lessons, some schools have organized small activities like cleaning the school campus or watering the trees.
