With frightful memories of cyclone, ‘Amphan’ which wreaked havoc in Sundarbans just a year back, thousands of people along with their belongings started taking shelters from 25th May 2021, in the relief camps (mostly schools) and flood centers in the islands of Sundarban as very severe cyclonic storm Yaas approached West Bengal and Odissa border causing intense intermittent rainfall and destroying houses.
Mukti with local Panchayats and Government are providing necessary aid to the helpless villagers. Government and local Panchayats are providing them drinking water and two time meal.
Mukti is supporting them with dry food, mask and hand sanitizer. In this hard time it is not possible to maintain the protocols of Covid-19 when hundreds of shelter seekers are pouring in for shelters. But their safety must not be ignored. Mukti volunteers with their possible effort are trying to keep them safe from getting infected.
