Mukti has been invited as a distinguished guest for the curtain raiser ceremony of the “Climate Goals: Technological Roadmap to Net Zero” event organized by CCSA Foundation, in association with knowledge partners CSIR, AIILSG, IIM Ahmedabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Bhubaneswar, CII and SERI at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi on 20 September 2022 (11:00 to 13:30 h, IST). The event was attended by Mr. Debabrata Halder. The curtain raiser for the series has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India.
India is emerging as a Global Leader in Climate Change Initiatives. CO2 and Methane emissions have important implications for climate change, particularly in the long and near term, respectively. Considering the premise, ICCSA is leading the initiative to find out a technological roadmap to achieve carbon emission (especially GHG emission) to net zero by 2070 with a 50-year plan.
Mr. Gadkari while enlightening the issue says that as transport is contributing approx 40% of the GHG emission, he emphasized on various steps are being taken care of by the central govt. transport dept to reduce carbon footprint. Electric vehicle fully operates on ethanol vehicle, building a smooth highway to reduce 40% less burn of fossil fuel, using water transport for shipping materials instead of roads which will lead to less carbon footprint.
There were a couple of panel discussions with distinguished persons like the secretary of the ministry, Prof from IIT & IIM to put light on the issues and how the country can collectively achieve the goal.
Mukti has requested Dr. J S Sharma – Summit Chair and Convener, Former GGM and Head (Env.), ONGC President, Indian Association of Air Pollution Control to consider similar events in Kolkata where Mukti can be partner/host.
Mr. Halder had a great discussion with Dr. T. Jayaraman – Sr. Fellow (Climate Change) MS. Swaminathan – Research Foundation who was moderating the panel. He has briefed Dr. T. Jayaraman about Mukti’s works and activities in environment & salt tolerant agriculture. He expressed his interest to work with Mukti in the agricultural sector in saline areas. Their research team can help Mukti in this regard. He has invited Mr. Halder to Chennai for a longer discussion on this subject.
