Mukti will install 5,000 new RCC (reinforced cement concrete)poles along the 7 km river boundary of the Thakuran river from Bisalakkhi Temple to Ganger Ghat at PurbaSridharpur. These poles are meant to assist in the dragon fruit plantation project, as the dragon fruit plants are climbers, and hence need physical structures for support. Pole installation work started on 1st December 2022, with 700 poles, each 6 feet in height, having been purchased. After a year, a circular frame will be made on top of each pole with the help of iron rods. This frame will help the plant to spread out in a way that will make the fruits visible and accessible. Four laborers are working to install the poles under the “Food for Work” project.
5-6 “Mukti Sathi”s are planting 4 dragon fruit saplings under each pole. A total of 16,000 saplings will be planted and will be taken care of by the Mukti Sathis. Mukti is providing monthly grocery support to the women engaged in plantation work.
