Mukti has installed a rice flake (chiwda/ poha) making machine at SWAS (Swavalamban Accelerator in Sundarban)/ SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India) training center at Kankandighi under Mathurapur block II, South 24 Parganas on 22nd September 2021, Wednesday. Mukti bought the machine from Sankar Engineering Corporation from Burdawan district. It is a fully automated machine. Its power consumption is 10H.P and needs 440 VOLT to run. The machine can produce 200 Kg- 250 Kg rice flakes per hour and approximately 10 jute bags full rice flakes per day. This machine can also be used to make puffed rice (muri) and gram (Chola).
How the machine does work:
At first, the paddy is graded, sorted and then soaked in water for about 4-6 hours. The water is removed and the paddy is roasted in Roaster Machine which is filled with Sand. The hot paddy that comes out from the Roaster Machine is then poured into the Poha Machine. The high-speed pressure shaft of the Poha Machine is used to flatten the paddy and to remove the husk from the paddy. The husk less flattened rice is then passed through a Cleaning (Chalna) machine. The fresh flattened rice is obtained as Poha from the Cleaning machine.
400 MCDF (Mukti Community Development Fund) members of the Kankandighi branch will be trained to make rice flakes with the help of the machine. This machine will be used for simultaneous food processing demonstrations and production.
Mukti will appoint one experienced trainer who will demonstrate the machine and will train the MCDF members for production. Very soon Mukti will start the food processing training program.
