Girls and women in rural India have traditionally been educated to become mothers, to serve their families and in some cases, to marry at an early age, but alternative paths are being marked out thanks in part to the power of football, which is helping to challenge these prejudices and to transform the position of women in society and in their communities.

For the successful implementation of this initiative, Mukti at Basanti Block of Sundarban has formed the first under 18 Mukti Women’s Football Team for adolescent girls. Mr. Nasser Ali Mollah, the coach of the women’s team has supported Mukti in creating the team. The team has been formed with 12 adolescent girls (aged between 13-16 years).
The joint venture of Mukti and Mr. Naser Ali Molla is increasing the promotion of women’s football and helping advance gender equality in rural areas of Sundarban, reducing the risks of discrimination or isolation.
On 27th February 2022, Sunday Mukti to encourage the players has organized a friendly match between the Mukti Women’s Team and Ghutiyari Sharif Sports Club at Kalahazra village of Basanti block. Ms. Shanti Mallick, the famous Arjuna Award-winning female footballer, has been present at the football tournament. The girls of the Mukti Women’s Football Team played exemplary football and Ms. Shanti Mallick admires their performance.
Mukti has supported the players with jersey and match expenses.
Under Project VOICE Mukti in the future will form some new teams in Nagendrapur GP.
