Mukti is envisioning advanced training in handicrafts for rural women, with the goal of empowering them with a livelihood. To actualize this vision, Mukti, in association with “Naba Diganta Water Management Limited” (NDWML) has taken an initiative called “Karigari”, which started on 25th June 2022 at the Mukti Jatragachi Center. 33 women have so far received advanced training so far to make soft toys and jute products.
“Karigari” is a 90-day training program. For the first 30 days, the trainees were trained to make soft toys under the guidance of Mrs. Susama Mondal. In the next one and a half months, they learned to make jute sandals, dolls, and junk jewelry. Mr. Panchanan Das trained them to make jute sandals whereas Mrs. Nillima Mondal trained them to make jute dolls and junk jewelry. From the middle of next week, candle-making training will start under the guidance of Ms. Rezina Biwi.
Along with the handcraft training, Mukti is also providing training on branding & packaging of products and financial training.
Besides various types of training programs, Mukti is also trying to link the producers to the market. Mukti is participating in different government-organized fares and “mela”s where beneficiaries can sell their products. The products are also being sold in local shops.
Through these different types of training programs, Mukti is continuously working to change more lives in rural and vulnerable communities.
