The cyclone Amphan struck the southern West Bengal coast on May 20, and has devastated areas of Sundarban and many of the districts in West Bengal, at a time when Covid-19 and lockdown have already affected the lives of millions there. In particular, the Sundarban region, home to more than 5 million people, among which the major part are farmers, has suffered unprecedented damage to households and agricultural fields.
Amphan shattered the hope of the farmers where Mukti came forward to rebuild it. Mukti organized several relief programs, which aimed at providing the essential facilities to the farmers in association with “Bengal Association of San Diego” and “Shanghai Adda Members”. Mukti reached to 685 farmers of 8 villages including Domkal, Nagendrapur, Purba Sridharpur, Baradanagar, Uttar Kankandighi, Dakshin Kankandighi, Purba Jota and Paschim Jota under Nagendrapur and Kankandighi Gram Panchayat.

Each of the farmers received 6 Kg. Rice and 1 piece of Tarpaulin. Mukti is helping these farmers by distributing seeds, preparing their land for future harvest and now by providing them relief.
