To support the indigenous people living on the river boundaries of Nagendrapur and Kankandighi GP with seasonal vegetable saplings, Mukti has created a vegetable kitchen garden at the home of a farmer of the SAM (Sustainable Agricultural Movement) project in Mukti Gram. The majority of these families are landless and migrant laborers. They are malnourished due to a lack of adequate nutrition.
The objective of this program is to fulfill their nutritional deficiencies and to help them to earn a living.
5 varieties of vegetable saplings like – Chili, Beetroot, Cauliflower, Turnip, and Tomato are being nurtured in the garden. Each family will be provided 10-20 seedlings of each variety. These seedlings are cultivated in a completely organic way. The vegetables that these vegetable seedlings will produce will be delicious as well as beneficial for health.
On the contract of “Food for Work” the farmer is receiving monthly food support from Mukti. Very soon Mukti will distribute these seedlings to the poor indigenous people of Nagendrapur and Kankandighi GP.
