Mukti Continues Planting Mangrove beside Bhubaneswari River

Recognizing the importance of mangroves, Mukti has taken various initiatives- plantation, restoration, conservation, creating nurseries, awareness programs, meeting with Government officials, field visits and even generating income to protect and restore the mangrove forest in the Sundarban delta. With the help of MCDF (Mukti Community Development Fund) workers, Mukti regularly plants new mangrove saplings and maintains them.

Mukti with the help of the sponsors has planted mangrove saplings in most of the major areas of the mangrove plantation site. Besides that Mukti on its own initiative has planted 15,000 more mangrove saplings in the remaining areas beside Bhubaneswari River at Purba Sridharpur under Nagendrapur GP. The seedlings that Mukti has made in its own mangrove nursery have been prepared for plantation. Every day on an average 15-20 women members of the MCDF Purba Sridharpur branch has been involved in the plantation work. They are also protecting and nurturing those saplings till they mature.

The women working under “Food for Work” are receiving monthly food support from Mukti.
