On 2nd March 2022, Wednesday Mukti in association with “OAK Foundation” has organized an ACV (Amplifying Community Voice) program, 1st session for the adolescent boys at Herembogopalpur GP. Adolescents from marginalized communities and those in far-flung rural areas are further disadvantaged, as they are disconnected from the reach of mainstream media, and cannot make their voices heard. The program has been organized to make the boys aware of their rights, the environment- people they are living in and to try to keep their aspirations without getting influenced by others.
23 school-going boys have participated in the session. They have been taught to v identify the role of the protectors, trouble makers and neutral people in society in controlling their aspirations through a game. One boy is said to stand still with some balloons. Three groups have been formed. The first group is told to burst the balloons. The second group is said to protect those and the third group is asked to do nothing.
After the game is over the boys have been told the importance of the game. The balloons have resembled their desires. Among the three groups, the first group has been playing the role of trouble makers, the second group is the protectors and the third group is neutral people.
They have been explained that in the course of life they will always encounter three types of people like the game. Some kind of people will try to break their desires, will lead them astray and will intimidate them. This type of person will play the role of the enemy in the guise of a friend. There will be another type of people who will be their true benefactors – who will guide them on the right path, will give good advice, will encourage them and will try to help in every way. There will be some people who will do nothing for them, good or bad, just will act as spectators. The boys are advised to identify these three types of people. If they can identify these people then they will be able to keep their dreams alive and have success in life.
Mukti is trying to change the way the world treats children. Mukti is using accountability, collaboration, creativity and integrity to do it. Mukti staff, volunteers and partners don’t just abide by these standards – they live them.
