MUKTI has been recognized as the number 1 NGO (Non-government-organization) in India for its tremendous work in the field of climate-resilient sustainable agriculture and organic farming by FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and has been awarded the First Prize in the Agri Summit and through a awards ceremony held on 18th November 2021, Thursday under the “Climate resilient agriculture” category in New Delhi. The selection process continued for almost two months where more than 200 NGOs participated in the same category. The national-level competition started in September, there were 4 different levels of verification by the FICCI team. It was a nationwide competition where Mukti won the First prize for its unparalleled contribution in the field of organic farming in the Sundarbans, West Bengal.
To avoid public gatherings in the Covid situation only the members of the FICCI related with Sustainable Agriculture Awards and two candidates from the winning organizations are physically invited to attend the awards ceremony. Other members of FICCI and the nominated organizations are requested to participate virtually.
The program started at 11 am with the opening address of Ms. Jyoti Vij, Deputy Secretary-General, FICCI and it ended at 1 pm with the closing address and vote of thanks by Mr. Dilip Chenoy, Secretary-General, FICCI.
Mr. T R Kesavan, Chairman of FICCI National Agriculture Committee and Group President of TAFE Ltd, Mr. Sanjay Sacheti, Co-Chairman, FICCI National Agriculture Committee and Executive Director and Country Head, Olam Agro India Pvt Ltd, Mr. Rahoul Sawani, President – South Asia, Corteva Agriscience, Mr. Sunjay Vuppuluri, National Head of Food and Agribusiness Strategic Advisory and Research (FASAR), YES Bank, Mr. Sundeep Kumar Nayak, Managing Director, National Cooperative Development Corporation, Dr. Ashok Dalwai, CEO, NRAA, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India and Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member of NITI Aayog, Government of India enriched the award ceremony with their respective speeches at the event.
FICCI awarded MUKTI a Memento and a Certificate of Merit in recognition of all the work MUKTI has done under the SAM (Sustainable Agricultural Program ) during these long twelve years, from 2009-2021.
To date, MUKTI has conducted 1600 Training sessions among 8000 farmers to train them about organic practices and to make them Independent to produce bio manure and pesticides. In the last 2 years, The organization has formed 31 Farmers group formations, conducted 22 Workshops, Several hands-on hands training, 2 Exposure visits, 1 Fair exhibition, 9 Awareness programs, 4 Expert visits, Provided PGS (Participatory Guarantee System) certificates to 130 organic farmers from the Government of India, implemented ToT (Trained the Trainer) methodology, launched community business channel, produced 1500-ton Vegetables in rainy and winter season last year, linked 503 farmers directly to the market, Provided Kit support to 200 farmers for vegetable kitchen gardening, Provided seed support to more than 5000 farmers, etc and what not to uplift the living standards of the farmers and provide them a healthy living environment to sustain.
In total, more than 11,000 farmers have been benefited either directly or indirectly by MUKTI.
