Like every year this year too on 26th January 2022, Wednesday MSS (Mukti Support School) students had celebrated the 73rd Republic Day with grandeur. This day marks the date when the Constitution of India came into existence replacing the Government of India Act (1935), which was the governing document of the nation. Meanwhile, in wake of the “Omicron” variant, this year too, MSS had celebrated this day in a very restricted manner.
91 students of Banashayamnagar MSS, 72 students of Dakshin Joykrishnapur MSS, 47 students of Rudranagar MSS and 70 students of Deulbari MSS participated in the Republic Day celebration to remember the patriotism of the martyrs.
Teachers hoisted the national flag in their respective school premises. The students pay their respects by laying wreaths on the picture of “Bharat Mata” (Mother India). The morning breeze was echoing with the slogan of ‘Bande Mataram’.
Teachers briefed their students on the significance of Republic Day. Republic Day commemorates the spirit of independent and individual India. It was on this day in 1930 when the Indian National Congress proclaimed Purna Swaraj, the declaration of India’s independence from colonial rule. The day also commemorates Indian citizens’ power to choose their government democratically, in exchange for the bloodshed of thousands of martyrs. The nation celebrates this day as the national holiday for the establishment of the Indian Constitution.
Banashyamnagar MSS organized road meetings (Pothosobha) and cultural activities for the students. To depict the thoughts of the students on Republic Day and to make them aware of the importance of the day, teachers also had arranged a lecture competition for the class VII to X students. To encourage the students to participate each of the participants was gifted small prizes.
Mukti hopes that if the situation improves, then next year all the MSS students will be able to celebrate Republic Day.
