Mr. Debiprasad Chowdhury, his wife Mrs. Mithu Chowdhury, his nephew Mr. Arupjyoti Chowdhury and the nephew’s wife Mrs. Shiuli Chowdhury visit Mukti Gram from 15th February to 17th February 2022. He is associated with “AID”. They have visited various project sites of Mukti Gram and have interacted with the people associated with the projects of Mukti. Mr. Sourabh Kayal – project coordinator of SAM (Sustainable Agricultural Movement) assists them throughout their tour.
Mr. Chowdhury is one of the supporters and well-wishers of Mukti. He is a heart specialist living in America for a long time. After 55 long years, he has come with his family members to visit Mukti. They are a very elderly person and can’t walk properly. But because of their love for Mukti, ignoring the physical difficulties, they flew from faraway America.
First-day while entering Mukti Gram, seeing the scenic beauty they say that if heaven is anywhere, it is here. After visiting the cyclone tolerant houses, they have a meeting with the Mukti Working Committee members Project Coordinators. At that meeting, Mukti staff explained in detail why, how and for whom these houses are built. They have been overwhelmed to know how these houses made of natural materials, without harming nature can withstand a disaster.
On the second day, they have visited the model village, organic farming land, vermicompost pit, mangrove plantation site, nursery etc. In the afternoon they attend a meeting with the MCDF members and then visit the renowned Jotar Deul (Temple of Lord Shiva). In the evening they have enjoyed a cultural program conducted by the local performers performing Rabindra sangeet, dance, yoga, folk and modern songs, one-act-play.
The third day has started with a lot of excitement as they are going to visit Bonnie Camp. After crossing four rivers – Moni, Thakuran, Matla and Vidyadhori by boat they reach Bonnie Camp. Migratory birds, vast mangrove forests, crocodiles resting on the riverbank keep them spellbound. They are overwhelmed by the sight of the confluence of three rivers – Moni, Thakuran, Matla which they have only read in the book. At Bonnie camp, they have seen wild deer and fed them with their own hands.
While leaving for Kolkata they share their experience with Mukti. They said that Mukti Gram has been beautified by the well-meaning people living there. These people may not have any biblical education but they are strong in teaching humanity. They highly praised Mr. Sankar Haldar- the founder of Mukti, and the Mukti staff whose team spirit is constantly inspiring hundreds of people to dream of a corruption-free new society. If in the coming few years Mukti continues to work in the same way as it is doing nowadays for mankind, then very soon we will all be able to say, “Bharat abar jagoto sobhai srestho asono lobe” (India will win the best seat in the world assembly). They will go back and tell their friends about Mukti and will also write letters so that their friends get inspired and help Mukti. They will tell their friends to come to Mukti Gram and witness the activities of Mukti. They thank Mr. Sourabh Kayal for his hospitality and for being such a good guide.
Mukti expresses sincere thanks to Mr. Chowdhury and his family members for visiting Mukti Gram and appreciating the activities, efforts of Mukti. Mukti invites them to visit again.
