On 11th September 2022 Mukti organized a meeting at the Mukti Library Office with the model house beneficiaries who want to build their own houses by following the principles of Mukti model houses. On the basis of applications, 50 residents of Purba Sridharpur were called to attend the meeting. The meeting was conducted by the senior working committee members of Mukti. The agenda of the meeting was to explain the three schemes of Mukti in making the houses, Mukti’s objective in constructing the houses and the eligibility for applying for each type of scheme.
The three schemes of Mukti have been designed by considering different levels of vulnerability and financial capability of the villagers, and a committee has been formed to assess this. After the assessment, the committee enrolls the beneficiary in the appropriate schemes, such that the truly deprived people get the maximum benefit. Beneficiaries can choose any one of the three types of houses – thatch, dome or shell.
The first scheme is designed for the most disadvantaged – those who are in dire straits, who have no hope of getting government aid, whose houses have been destroyed and who cannot afford to repair them. According to the first scheme, Mukti will support the beneficiary with Rs. 1 lakh to build their house. This is estimated to cover the full cost of building the house.
According to the second scheme, Mukti will support the beneficiary with Rs. 70,000. The beneficiary would arrange for any remaining expenses and materials.
As per the third scheme, Mukti will provide Rs 50,000 to those who want to build a second floor to an existing house.
In building houses, beneficiaries must strictly follow the techniques of model houses. Mukti will hold the second round of meetings with the beneficiaries who agree to the schemes.
