Cyclone Bulbul was one of the most ill-fated storms of 2019. The township of Sunderban was left in ruins after it passed over nearly 40 villages, leaving over a lakh family is absolute distraught. Many families lost their homes to the wind while others were flooded in, due to the torrential rains. Many farmlands were also badly affected due to the cyclonic storm. The overall damage to families, livestock, agricultural land was immeasurable.
Many of these villagers were in dire need of medical attention. Mukti has organised a series of medical camps in some of the villages of Kakdwip, Sunderban. The doctors will be treating over 3500 patients, from different villages in a span of 15 days.
This first village, Haripur in Namkhana Block, where Medical Camp I took place on 21st November, 2019, alone had 200 patients. They came in to meet the doctors with different health issues ranging from generic cough and cold to serious gynaecological issues. Of the 150 serious patients who have visited the camp, the doctors have been able to detect and effectively treat many ailments such as skin diseases, gastroenteric problems, cold and fevers, and some gynaecological symptoms.
In order to expand our area of operation and conduct more such medical camps, we need your help. There are many families relying on us, and thus you, to support them and help them to get back on their feet. We will be grateful if you could help us, help them.
