Mukti and Krishnachnadrapur High School organized the “Sundarban Agriculture and Handicraft Fair 2023” from January 22nd to 26that Vivekananda ground, adjacent to Krishnachandrapur High School under Mathurapur Block II of Sundarban. Around 1,500-2,000, people thronged the fairground every day. There were 14 stalls by Mukti, including 3 stalls of seeds, under the agriculture section.MCDF (Mukti Community Development Fund)members had 8 stalls in the handicrafts section. The fair was organized to provide a platform for the Mukti organic farmers and artisans to showcase their products and talent. The fair helped promote agriculture, livelihood, handicraft and environmental awareness. The fair was open from 2 pm to 9 pm.
Agricultural development seminars were organized for the organic progressive farmers. MCDF Forum members and SWAS (Swabalamban Accelerator in Sundarban) entrepreneurs were felicitated by Mukti.
Events at the fair included illuminations, drama, Chhau Nach, orchestra, music, book exhibition, trade, rides, food, etc.
The fair was inaugurated by Mr. PurnenduBasu – ex agriculture Minister of West Bengal. Mrs. Dola Sen – a member of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, was the chief guest. Mr. Alok Jaldata – MLA of Raidighi Legislative Assembly, Mr. Chandan Kumar Maiti – Headmaster of Krishnachandrapur High School, Mr. Sankar Halder – Founder President of Mukti and Mr. Bapi Halder – a prominent social worker and Secretary of the local club were honored as distinguished guests. They inspired people with their speeches.
