Amplifying community voice matters to community foundations because they exist to serve their communities. As local leaders and connectors, community foundations must ensure there is active, meaningful participation by the people whose lives are most affected by the policies, systems and structures in the communities they serve. In order to successfully implement these issues, Mukti and “OAK Foundation” have simultaneously organized several workshops to help underprivileged communities, mainly for women and adolescent groups in remote areas of Herembagopalpur GP of Sundarban.
From 28th May to 31st May 2022 Mukti has organized 3 workshops with the adolescents’ groups and 2 workshops with the women collective groups. 83 participants including adolescents and women from disadvantageous communities have attended the workshop.
Overall the objective of the workshop is the same for all the groups. The workshops have been planned for setting agendas, creating a clear idea of what needs to be done in the community, discussing their objectives, what visions they will set by themselves, and so on.
Adolescent meeting
Mainly the discussions are on the topics like – adolescent issue identification, prioritizing the issues, creating a “problem tree” through images to understand the root cause of problems and be aware of its immediate and long-term effects. Understanding the difficulties will create a vision of their own, they will be able to start their own campaigns to troubleshoot the problems, they will be able to communicate with other stakeholders living in the community and they will be able to solve the problems themselves.
