Thatching Work for Cyclone Tolerant Houses is Going On at Mukti Gram
Thatching work for the approved cyclone tolerant houses (Model houses) is going on at Mukti Gram, Purba Sridharpur. The work has been started in the middle of February 2022 and it will continue for two more months. The task is tedious and time-consuming. 10 male and 25 female workers employed by Mukti are continuing to do this work every day.
Male workers are engaged in sweeping the straw and cutting the bamboo whereas the women are engaged in making the panels.
Each panel is being built in layers by using little stripes of 1 Kaun straw, 2 bamboo clamps and 4 kg rope. 30 panels can be made with 64 torpa straw. Each day 2 women are making 90′ long panel (10′ long 9 panels). 5-6 Kaun straw is needed to shed a house.
