Successful plant production is dependent on rapid germination of seeds and propagation of vegetative propagates and their subsequent growth in good, free-draining potting compost well supplied with nutrients and organic matter. During early growth, some shade is usually desirable to prevent wilting and water stress.
Following these processes, MCDF (Mukti Community Development Fund) members are producing saplings of winter flowers in Mukti Nursery at Mukti Gram, Purba Sridharpur. They are nurturing about 1 lakhs seedlings of 26 species like – Petunia, Calendula, Inka mix, Glorious, Zinnia, Dahlia, Chandramallika, Aster Bonita, Aster Pot, Salvia special Red, Gazania Ring etc. After 15 days these seedlings will be mature enough for plantation.
Once the seedlings are mature, they will be planted on 10 Bigha of land in Mukti village.
20 MCDF members are engaged in taking care of these seedlings and they are working under “Food for Work”.
