A month has passed since Yaas hit villages of Sundarban, but life is still difficult. Shortage of fodder for cattle is still a big concern for many of the cattle owners.
The recent flood wiped out households’ stock of food. In many areas fodder for livestock remains unavailable. A large number of flood hit villagers had tied their cattle on roads and embankments to save them from drowning. The haystacks were washed away and the green fields were damaged by the flood water.
Under the circumstances Mukti with “Kolkata Gives” has distributed almost 60,125 Kg fodder to 2,405 cattle owners of Sundarban, Purba and Paschim Medinipur in the last three weeks.
In this crisis period this initiative of Mukti is helping to keep the animals alive and active. The life and livelihood of the villagers depends largely on the survival of their livestock.
