Advancements in technology have enabled doctors from urban world to treat patients in rural areas remotely through video-call consultations. Telemedicine allows health care professionals to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients at a distance using telecommunications technology.
Mukti has conducted several medical camps for more than one month throughout the 10 Blocks (under the action area of Mukti) of Sunderban. Telemedicine service was set up by Mukti for those people residing in rural areas and don’t get access to quality healthcare services. Those who missed the camps for some reason or the patients who are in critical condition, Mukti has organized telemedicine service.
The specialist doctors from Australia, New York, London, Germany and India are treating the patients online. 18 doctors from various disciplines such as Endocrinologist, Gynecologist, Ophthalmologist, Dermatologist, Gastroenterologist, Pediatrics, Neurologist etc are checking the patients as per the scheduled time. One day in a week these specialist doctors are treating the patients through video conference. They are diagnosing the patients and prescribing them medicine. Local doctors are helping the specialists in writing the prescription.
This is a centralized camp where patients from all the areas, where Mukti in running mobile medical camps are given advise to consult specialized doctors are being treated. This centralized camp is located in Purbasridharpur under Raidighi Police Station. During 15 days of action 133 patients received medical treatment. Patients are getting free medical checkups and medicine.
Mukti in association with the sponsors “Rural Health care Foundation” and “Kolkata Foundation” are conducting this telemedicine service by maintaining all the protocols of Covid -19.
Though Mukti started the service for the Amphan affected victims but Mukti has a plan to continue it for the patients even in future.
