South West Bengal that entails the Ganges delta (where Kolkata is located) has borne the brunt of the rage of the monstrous catastrophe that is unprecedented in recent history. One realizes the severity of the damages to the coastal regions and the Indian Sundarbans delta (ISD) that faced the direct initial impacts of the cyclone in its heightened intensity. Any storm brings with itself the not merely the damages from its ferocity, but also inundations. Sea level rise, salinisation of soil and water, cyclonic storms and flooding have combined over the past century to render the Sundarbans as one of the most hazardous areas in the Indian subcontinent.
Inhabitants of Sunderban already have several experiences as Amphan. They have faced Aila, Bulbul like cyclones. With their mine of knowledge Mukti volunteers evacuated the villagers from the low lying areas to various schools and flood centers as soon as they came to know about Amphan. Mukti has arranged food and temporary shelters for all these villagers.
Along these efforts Mukti is also providing food to various places of Sunderban. Places where Mukti provided foods are No. 4 Nalgora Village, Jaynal and Garibari. These all villages are under Nalgora Gram Panchayat and Kultali Police Station.
Grocery items such as Rice, Dal, Potato, Salt and Puffed rice were distributed to 120 families. With this the villagers were distributed 35 Tarpaulins and 250 Masks. Most of them are daily earners or laborers.
Mukti is working day and night tirelessly to restore them into their normal lives at the earliest.
