Sunderban, the epicenter of the cyclone’s landfall, saw the most widespread damage from AMPHAN. The damage there was more extensive than in Cyclone Aila in 2009. Acres after acres has been ruined which includes agricultural land, habitats, property, people. AMPHAN has destroyed thousands of homes, uprooted trees and electric poles, turned acres of fertilized land into barren lands with salty water and so on.
Mukti volunteers pushed all their efforts to speed up restoration work in the aftermath of super cyclone AMPHAN. Before the Cyclone’s landfall, Sunderban Mukti has already evacuated thousands of the vulnerable to safe shelters.
The basic need of life is food. Mukti volunteers are gathering funds to feed the hunger of the hungry and in this mission Mukti is conducting food distribution program at many of the affected areas of Sunderban. Kakdwip is one of the major working areas of Mukti.
At Namkhana Block, under Budhanagar Gram Panchayat there are two villages Fatikpur and Bisalakkhi where Mukti has provided Food to 100 families. Each of the families are provided with Potato – 2 kg, Mustard Oil – 500 gram, Rice flakes – 500 gram, Dal (Lentils) – 500 gram, Soyabin – 500 gram, Batasa (Sweet Candy) – 250 gram, Soap – 2 pieces.
It’s just a small initiative of Mukti at Kakdwip. Lots of miles to go.
