Mukti IIT Kharagpur started their rehabilitation program for restoration of local Water bodies to provide Sweet Water among Aila Victims in K Plot GP of Pathar-Pratima Block.
Team of eight volunteers from IIT Kharagpur accompanied by local Mukti volunteers, who had camped at site taken a project of pumping out of saline water at first phase from 10 big community ponds and make it ready for sweet water to be used by Aila victims. This project is highly appreciated by local government and NGOs. Since these ponds were chief source of water for the local people, cleaning of these ponds is absolute necessary to provide them with sweet water and restricting spreading diseases.
This team is also conducting a survey for educational damage in the affected villages. The basic idea behind this survey is to find out how many schools are damaged, and how many students need education materials which might have been washed out by recent flood to continue their studies.
