60,000 Bani (Mangrove) Saplings has been Produced in Mukti Mangrove Nursery
Mukti has produced 60,000 Bani (one of the species of mangrove) saplings in the Mukti mangrove nursery – supported by “Association for India’s Development” (AID), 500 meters away from the Mukti library at Purba Sridharpur. On the banks of the river Thakuran. outside the river embankment, this place is always tidal. So it is not possible to plant any other tree other than mangrove in this place. Mukti has selected this 30 bigha land as a mangrove plantation site.
Mukti women gardeners – “Mukti Sathi” are engaged in potting the Bani saplings here. Seedlings are made by air layering and germinating seeds. When the saplings are mature they will be planted along the embankment.
