This year at the 17th TSS Award ceremony, Mukti felicitated the students who have done notable social work.
Mukti classified the awards into four categories.
The award for Health & Awareness was given to Mihir Baidya, currently pursuing M.Sc. in Geography from Calcutta University. He has been receiving sponsorship from Mukti for 5 years. Mihir hails from Johor Colony, South 24 Parganas where he lives with his parents and elder sister. His father Kalipada Baidya is a farmer, his mother is a housewife, and his sister has completed graduation. Mihir has been donating blood and volunteering at a blood donation camp. He donated blood in a donation camp for the welfare of vulnerable people. He also helps in the blood donation process in various ways, such as helping donors to fill up the online form. He is delighted to be doing this and is dedicated to social welfare.
The award for Environment was given to Debajyoti Halder, currently pursuing B.Sc.in Perfusion Technology from the College Of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences, WBUHS.He has been a TSS beneficiary for two years. He lives with his family in Raidighi, South 24 Parganas. He lost his father when he was 8 years old. His mother Suparna Halder stitches clothes for a living. Debajyoti has invested 80 hours in tree plantation in the last nine months, and he believes that saving trees ultimately has the effect of saving human lives.
Soumen Kayal, currently pursuing a B.Tech Department of Computer Science, 1st year from the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology was felicitated under the Multiple categories. He has been receiving sponsorship under TSS for two years. He lives in Kumrapara village, south 24 Parganas in a 5-member family. His father is a farmer, and his mother is a housewife. Soumen has taken initiative to organize vaccination clinics, food and winter clothing distribution, and tree planting. He has devoted 50 hours in the last 5 months to these activities.
The award for Education was given to Afreen Sultana, currently pursuing M.Sc. from Ballygunge Science College. She has been a TSS recipient for four years. She comes from Chakberia village, South 24 Parganas. Her father Md. Abdul Kabir is a service holder in the private sector and his mother Masuma Begum is a housewife. Afreen volunteers for social activities, such as providing free tuition in her neighborhood. She has been teaching 1-2 students and has invested more than 80 hours in this in the last 6 months.
A memento was given to every winner. Certificates were awarded to 32 new students selected for sponsorship in the 2022-2023 session.
