Hit by crop failure due to increased salinity through sea water surge, farmers of the cyclone, Amphan-hit villages of the Sunderban areas are now reverting to cultivate of traditional low-yield paddy in the hope that it would feed them next year.<\/p>\n

Mukti seeded this paddy on 37 Bigha of land and now these saplings are matured enough for distribution and cultivation. This special type of paddy can bear saline water and are cultivated in Monsoon. The paddy will be harvested organically, without any chemical, will produce healthy rice though the production will be little less in compare with the other hybrid paddies. These paddies are hard enough to tolerate any harsh weather.<\/p>\n

Mukti has distributed the paddy saplings to 62 farmers of 4 Blocks \u2013 Mathurapur II, Kultali and Patharpratima. 14 villages will receive its benefit in future. Each of the farmers received 120 bunches of paddy, so the total number goes to (120X62) = 7440. These paddy saplings will be planted on 62 Bigha of arable land, each farmer of approx 1 Bigha land.<\/p>\n

The distribution program will go on also in future. Only 40 farmers among the 1,000 have received the saplings, there\u2019s more to go. The number of distribution solely related to Monsoon.\u00a0 If the Monsoon happens in its normal form, Mukti will easily reach the target. Lack of monsoon can cause hindrance in the path of Mukti.<\/p>\n

As these paddies need a lot of water to grow, so only the pond water or the irrigation water will not be enough for the paddies to grow.<\/p>\n
