Tree planting and nurturing of seedlings are one of the oldest and best-supported forest stewardship programs. Planting trees provides benefits both to individuals and to society. The program\u2019s objective is to nurture the saplings and then to sell them.<\/p>\n

The influx of saline water, caused by Amphan, has rendered the soil unfit for agriculture forcing the men to migrate to places to work as daily wage laborers. It\u2019s the women left behind who have taken up the responsibility of saving their life and children. Mukti is helping these women by creating opportunities like seedling plantation.<\/p>\n

Under the plantation drive, the women are mobilized by Mukti and they are earning for their livelihood.<\/p>\n

Mukti has 97 nurseries across 3 acres of land, where 970 SHG women members are working on seedlings.The women are nurturing 55 lakh of seedlings in these nurseries. Mukti nurseries are spread across 16 Gram panchayats. These 16 Gram Panchayat are \u2013 Naluya under Mathurapur Block I, Nagendrapur, Kankandighi, Kumropara, Nandakumarpur, Raidighi under Mathurapur Block II, Maipith, Bhubaneswari, Debipur under Kultali Block ,Sonatikari, Ghotiharania under Jaynagar Block II and G-plot, Herembogopalpur, Baro Rakkhoskhali,\u00a0 Choto Rakkhoskhali under Patharpratima Block.<\/p>\n

The saplings of Sishu, Akashmoni , Bakul , Gamaru , Mahogani and Gayanim are being nurtured by the women of Mukti SHG.<\/p>\n
