Cyclone Amphan made landfall in the coasts of Sunderban, on 20 May 2020, causing heavy rain and tidal surges that caused huge devastation in the southern part of West Bengal. The houses that had been damaged in November 2019 by Aila had still not been repaired when Amphan once again uprooted the people of Sunderbans from their homes. Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed in the wake of the cyclone. Mud embankments and dams in the Sunderban delta, a UNESCO site, were breached as the surge whipped up by the cyclone submerged several kilometers of the Island.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Almost two weeks after cyclone Amphan barreled through Sunderban, Mukti<\/strong> team had already reached more than thousands of people, but thousands more are in need of further humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n

Mukti<\/strong> started relief work just after Amphan passed away and at very first step distributed grocery items to feed the hungry. It\u2019s time to think about the other necessities also and for the safety of the Amphan affected victims, Mukti<\/strong> is distributing Tarpaulins, Mosquito nets and Sanitary Napkins.<\/p>\n

Mukti<\/strong> organized one such care kit distribution program at Vivekananda Gram Panchayat under Kakdwip Block. Mukti<\/strong> has provided 75 Tarpaulins, 125 Mosquito Nets and 125 Sanitary Napkins to 200 beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
