{"id":4634,"date":"2022-11-21T11:59:02","date_gmt":"2022-11-21T11:59:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/muktiweb.org\/?p=4634"},"modified":"2023-07-22T11:59:26","modified_gmt":"2023-07-22T11:59:26","slug":"in-search-of-freedom-mukti-a-perspective","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.maxmobility.in\/mukti\/in-search-of-freedom-mukti-a-perspective\/","title":{"rendered":"In search of Freedom (Mukti) \u2013 a Perspective"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In most of Mukti\u2019s public programs, that I have had the honor and privilege to participate, the famous Tagore Song \u201c\u098f\u0987 \u0986\u0995\u09be\u09b6\u09c7 \u0986\u09ae\u09be\u09b0 \u09ae\u09c1\u0995\u09cd\u09a4\u09bf \u0986\u09b2\u09cb\u09af\u09bc \u0986\u09b2\u09cb\u09af\u09bc\u201d (My freedom is in the light under the sky) is a common inaugural choir. Under the able leadership of its president, secretary and executive board &#8211; and given the broad arena of philanthropic initiatives that Mukti India has involved itself into &#8211; the choice of this song as the NGO\u2019s prime theme is as much praiseworthy as it is thought-provoking.<\/p>\n<p>In this article, by pondering further on this particular line of this song, I would humbly endeavor to share my personal perspective to explore \u201cHow can light be a source of freedom\u201d? Towards this, we may just need to refresh a bit of Physics to summarize the scientific theories around the nature of light:<\/p>\n<p>Since 17<sup>th<\/sup> century, Newton made the world believe, that light is stream of \u201cparticles\u201d(He named it \u201cCorpuscles\u201d). His hypothesis was that light rays are observed to travel in straight lines and the way light bounces off a mirror is very much like the way a ball bounces off a hard wall. During 1800, Thomas Young, observed and experimented on the contrary, that at interfaces (e.g. between that of air and water), some light is reflected back while the rest is refracted (bending obliquely in a different straight line) into water with a lower speed. Moreover, different colors of light bend at different degrees. Corpuscular Theory couldn\u2019t explain such behaviors, but the new \u201cWave Theory\u201d could. Thus the world started to believe that light must be a \u201cwave\u201d \u2013 and it propagates just like the ripples generated in a pond &#8211; upon throwing a stone therein &#8211; does. With the turn of the twentieth century, there was another transformation when \u201cQuantum Theory\u201d got introduced. Einstein won the Nobel Prize in 1921 because he described light as particles carrying \u201cQuanta\u201d (discrete packets of energy)\u2013 which, to some extent, again brought back light\u2019s particle theory in forefront. The great debate and curiosity around the nature of light didn\u2019t stop therein. Without getting further into the cryptic theory and mathematics around it, the behavior of such quantum particles (like Light) can be summarized as follows in crude and simple layman\u2019s term:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quantum elements can be both particles and waves \u2013 or at times can be something intermediary.<\/li>\n<li>Unless an observer is observing, there\u2019s no way to precisely ascertain the state they \u201cwere\u201d, \u201care\u201d or \u201cwill be\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>However, once observed, they seem to instantly detect that someone external is \u201cspying\u201d on them and will immediately disguise themselves into a different state to blur the distinction between illusion and reality.<\/li>\n<li>At any instant, it is <em>impossible<\/em> to precisely measure both their position and velocity simultaneously. If one is precise enough, the other will be flawed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the light of the above understanding, perhaps a way to portray and correlate such traits with that of attaining freedom could be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The \u201cpresent\u201d is all that \u201cis\u201d:<\/strong> Whether light is a \u201cwave\u201d or \u201cparticle\u201d or \u201cboth\u201d is a futile question. At any instant, in whatever form it is appears to an observer, is the truth. On the other hand, \u201clight\u201d, in this physical world is omnipresent. It is always on its job, tirelessly illuminating others, without caring how much glow it brought in this world over the last billion years or will bring in over the next trillion. On the contrary, for us, humans, our identity is all about our \u201cpast\u201d and \u201cfuture\u201d though &#8211; and almost nothing about our \u201cpresent\u201d. Our \u201cego \u201cfeeds itself from the earned credentials, achievements, and accolades of the past \u2013 while our \u201cdesire\u201d is nourished from the greed, power, entitlement, and wants from the future. Does ego and desire give birth to \u201cfreedom\u201d(Mukti) or does it push us further to eternal captivity?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Let the \u201cpresence\u201d be felt the most in the \u201cabsence\u201d: <\/strong>No one sees light, yet nothing can be seen without its benevolence. In the absence of light everything seems void all across \u2013 yet, with light around, it is all color. Can we humans emulate this behavior? Does the act of intended wellness performed over stage and announced via advertisements, publicities, lectures, fundraisers are the need of this universe OR, just a genuine intent towards human goodwill &#8211; coupled with silence, anonymity and sincerity more than enough to generate \u201cfreedom\u201d (Mukti) in every soul?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The more Science is gradually unearthing the secrets on the design of our own human anatomy as well as that of this Universe, the more it is perhaps getting apparent that the universal code is written quite contrary to the way we have conceived, designed, and remunerated our own civilization system \u2013 where individuality and agenda takes center stage in every transaction. The true essence of Mukti (freedom)cannot thus just be modeled by announcing a financial bonanza towards the communities of lesser gods while aggrandizing personal agendas \u2013 but it\u2019s an arduous act of enabling individuals to generate \u201cconsciousness in every soul\u201d which understands the language of \u201canonymity\u201d and \u201cunconditionality\u201d \u2013 be it in love, presence, excellence, or collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>To conclude and in my humble opinion, Tagore, was as much a marvel of literature as he was in understanding this code of universal design that science is still in the process of gradually revealing\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026. \u098f\u09a4\u09cb \u09aa\u09cd\u09b0\u09c7\u09ae\u09c7, \u098f\u09a4\u09cb \u09aa\u09cd\u09b0\u09c7\u09ae\u09c7&#8230; \u09ae\u09cb\u09b0 &#8220;\u0986\u09ae\u09bf&#8221; \u09a1\u09c1\u09ac\u09c7 \u09af\u09be\u0995 \u09a8\u09c7\u09ae\u09c7 \u2026<\/p>\n<p>(\u2026 amid so much of love, let the \u201cI\u201d in me get drowned forever)<\/p>\n<p>My regards to every Mukti Sathi with a wish that may all your endeavors generate that consciousness among all \u201chumanity\u201d to bring back that elusive essence of freedom the universe is in dire need of\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>Thank You<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In most of Mukti\u2019s public programs, that I have had the honor and privilege to participate, the famous Tagore Song \u201c\u098f\u0987 \u0986\u0995\u09be\u09b6\u09c7 \u0986\u09ae\u09be\u09b0 \u09ae\u09c1\u0995\u09cd\u09a4\u09bf \u0986\u09b2\u09cb\u09af\u09bc \u0986\u09b2\u09cb\u09af\u09bc\u201d (My freedom is in the light under the sky) is a common inaugural choir.
