I extend a hearty welcome to all of you, the Head Masters and Head Mistresses and everyone present here in the second AGM of ASFHM.<\/p>\n
We have gathered here today to discuss and find solutions to the problems that have arisen in the field of Education today.\u00a0 After analyzing the different aspects, we feel that the basic factor giving rise to the problems is the lack of proper leadership that can bring advancement to the society. Our society\u00a0 is primarily controlled by a handful of politicians\u00a0 who\u00a0 , by using\u00a0 33 to 40 % of our income\u00a0 as tax\u00a0 , seek to meet the basic needs of the people\u00a0 , and there is another group like us\u00a0 who are trying to solve\u00a0 different\u00a0\u00a0 social\u00a0 problems staying outside\u00a0 the political arena .\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But it has been observed that there has been a change in the pattern of social structure in Bengal in the last 30 years. Since the 1980 s, the political scenario has changed considerably and the parents have desisted from encouraging their children to join politics and engage in social service. You teachers, who are present here today will be able to realize\u00a0 the situation if you\u00a0 ask yourself how many\u00a0 students\u00a0 have been inspired to shape\u00a0 themselves as worthy political leaders or dedicated social workers\u00a0 . If we look at the developed countries of the world, we cannot find a single instance where the country has advanced ignoring the political currents and cross currents. So what we also need to achieve\u00a0 true advancement of our country\u00a0 is people with\u00a0 high\u00a0 intellect and\u00a0 dedication\u00a0 to\u00a0 take lead in the\u00a0 political field .<\/p>\n
Our next point is that we who want to work for social welfare find that at present corruption has entered this sector. Some people form organizations for social work driven by their own\u00a0 financial problems and without being properly\u00a0 educated\u00a0 . How can an individual\u00a0 with lots of personal problems\u00a0 help others ?\u00a0 Naturally such a person has to use some portion\u00a0\u00a0 of the financial assistance given to the organization\u00a0 for his\u00a0 own basic needs and we start looking\u00a0 down\u00a0 upon them . Our traditional\u00a0 mindset makes us\u00a0 respect and admire those who are earning\u00a0 lakhs\u00a0 , and treat with contempt\u00a0 those with\u00a0\u00a0 meager means\u00a0 , but engaged in commendable social service\u00a0 . This has given rise to an imbalance . The main reason for\u00a0 this\u00a0 is that people who are highly educated\u00a0 and are\u00a0 the best brains in society\u00a0 are engaged in different\u00a0 professions leading an easy life\u00a0 , but not taking\u00a0\u00a0 any\u00a0 social responsibilities .\u00a0 As an example it may be cited that an insect\u00a0 like the bee\u00a0 follows\u00a0 a pyramidal\u00a0 structure where\u00a0 the most capable ones\u00a0 are at the top of the pyramid\u00a0 looking after the whole community\u00a0 . But men who have been favored by Nature with brains and talent\u00a0 , choose the easy way\u00a0 out and run after\u00a0 money\u00a0 . The difficult task of taking the\u00a0 society forward is left to mediocre\u00a0 people\u00a0 . And all problems\u00a0 start from here .<\/p>\n
Every morning we hear that\u00a0 130 million people are looking for jobs\u00a0 . On the other hand\u00a0 millions of jobs need to be done\u00a0 . We need roads and schools . For roads we need man power and materials\u00a0 . For schools we need teachers and a roof . Even without a roof\u00a0 a school can be conducted if we follow\u00a0 the examples\u00a0 of Rabindranath Tagore\u00a0 and Aristotle . When there are lakhs of educated unemployed young people willing to teach, why this gap cannot be filled?<\/p>\n
It is necessary\u00a0 to do an in – depth\u00a0 study of the\u00a0\u00a0 situation\u00a0 in order to find\u00a0 a proper and viable solution\u00a0 . After a lot of\u00a0 discussion and observation ,\u00a0 Mukti has reached a conclusion . You all have\u00a0 heard of\u00a0 Entrepreneurship\u00a0 , but\u00a0 we are talking\u00a0 of Entrepreneurship , where people from different\u00a0 professions\u00a0 will\u00a0 devote at least\u00a0 a little\u00a0 time for social work , while pursuing\u00a0 their career\u00a0 unhampered\u00a0 . Because for proper social improvement we need the support of\u00a0 meritorious\u00a0 people\u00a0 , not their money . At present , merit and intellect are being used only to pursue highly paid jobs .<\/p>\n
There is another group of people\u00a0 who inspite of being\u00a0 meritorious do not have the freedom\u00a0 to take decisions\u00a0 as that power is in the\u00a0 hands of their bosses\u00a0 who belong to mediocrity . The teachers who are present here today know too well that they are unable to play a significant\u00a0 role\u00a0 in\u00a0 taking\u00a0 the country\u00a0 forward because of the present social structure . Mukti requests you to give to society some time from your daily routine\u00a0 while not disturbing\u00a0 the demands of\u00a0 your livelihood\u00a0 . This is our\u00a0 brand of Service to\u00a0 Society\u00a0 . Mukti has been formed on this principle . So far almost 800 people who are holding senior positions in different\u00a0 countries\u00a0 of the world\u00a0 have come together\u00a0 and\u00a0 formed Mukti .\u00a0 After a lot of\u00a0 thought ,\u00a0 Mukti has chosen this structure\u00a0 to ensure that the individuals connected with\u00a0 us\u00a0 will not take\u00a0 any illegal or anti- social\u00a0 steps as that would endanger their career\u00a0\u00a0 . So honoring the ideals of\u00a0 Mukti\u00a0 , everyone associated\u00a0\u00a0 with\u00a0 us has\u00a0 joined hands with\u00a0 utmost\u00a0 honesty and dedication\u00a0\u00a0 .<\/p>\n
In Mukti’s\u00a0 journey of almost 17 years , with the\u00a0 cooperation\u00a0 of several software engineer friends we have been largely able to\u00a0 apply IT Technology to expand our field of work\u00a0 . It has been\u00a0 possible to share detailed information\u00a0 regarding our work and establish contact with\u00a0 people in all corners\u00a0 of the world\u00a0 with the help of technology . In this context l must mention Mr. Chandan Maity , the Head Master\u00a0 of Krishnachandrapur High School . Since l came in contact with him about 3\/4 years ago , l have been inspired by\u00a0 his school- centric developmental work\u00a0 and since then we are working in association\u00a0 .It has been\u00a0 decided\u00a0 that the projects which have been successfully\u00a0 launched by him may be\u00a0 financially\u00a0\u00a0 assisted by our\u00a0\u00a0 friends\u00a0 abroad .\u00a0 The headmasters\u00a0 of\u00a0 different schools present here\u00a0 ,\u00a0 you who are capable of hard work\u00a0\u00a0 and have a fine vision for the\u00a0\u00a0 upliftment of\u00a0 society can join these projects\u00a0 and\u00a0 use Mukti\u00a0 as a platform for\u00a0 your\u00a0 developmental work . You all know that finance is a major problem\u00a0 , besides others . If you\u00a0\u00a0 observe , you would see how\u00a0 Chandan babu\u00a0 has been\u00a0 able to\u00a0 overcome\u00a0 them\u00a0 and has achieved a lot in improving the\u00a0 infrastructure and atmosphere of\u00a0 his school . If you see how\u00a0 in the last few years he has been able to\u00a0 procure and utilise funds\u00a0 , you would know that\u00a0 it may be\u00a0 difficult\u00a0\u00a0 but not impossible\u00a0 . And we aim to\u00a0 assist in making \u00a0at least\u00a0 100 more\u00a0 headmasters\u00a0 like him . To begin with, you can list\u00a0 the problems of your school and the adjoining\u00a0 locality\u00a0 and start\u00a0 an awareness campaign\u00a0 . Mukti will then appeal\u00a0 for help to\u00a0 their generous\u00a0 patrons abroad\u00a0 .The acceptability\u00a0 and reliability\u00a0\u00a0 needed for this has already been\u00a0 earned by Mukti\u00a0 through recognition\u00a0 in national and international\u00a0 levels . Along with this there\u00a0 are certain\u00a0 regulations regarding\u00a0 the\u00a0 use of\u00a0 foreign funds\u00a0 in India\u00a0 , called\u00a0 the\u00a0 Foreign Currency\u00a0 Regulation Act . This Act ensures and controls the use of foreign funds for development\u00a0 work . Every\u00a0 country\u00a0 has its\u00a0 own\u00a0 laws and regulations\u00a0 to supervise the proper\u00a0 utilization of its money\u00a0 given to\u00a0 other countries . That means the\u00a0 funds\u00a0 invested in India\u00a0 for social welfare by foreign countries\u00a0\u00a0 can\u00a0 operate smoothly only\u00a0 through mutual interaction , and Mukti has successfully\u00a0\u00a0 established that relation with\u00a0 various countries\u00a0 adhering to their laws\u00a0 and requirements\u00a0 . You can use this facility to your advantage through the Mukti\u00a0 portal , in solving problems relating to your\u00a0 schools\u00a0 . Funds may be received from all corners of the world and it will be handed over to you to implement\u00a0 your project\u00a0 successfully\u00a0 . Mukti is inviting you all to make such schemes a reality .<\/p>\n
It is essential\u00a0 here to give you a clear\u00a0 idea of Mukti’s\u00a0 political stand . We are an a -political\u00a0 body ,\u00a0 but not anti- political . We try to\u00a0 support\u00a0 and\u00a0 assist\u00a0 all benevolent work\u00a0 by any political personality or group\u00a0 . But we never participate in political conflict or debate , either\u00a0 directly or indirectly , as it is\u00a0 against our\u00a0 ideals . Similarly\u00a0 we do not have\u00a0 any religious\u00a0 allegiance . We work for people irrespective\u00a0 of their caste , creed or religion .<\/p>\n
Next, let us\u00a0 address\u00a0 the current\u00a0 problems in Education . You know that Mukti has set up\u00a0 Oxygen\u00a0 parlors in different\u00a0 regions of\u00a0 West Bengal\u00a0 during the pandemic . At present the corona\u00a0 situation is easing a bit , but a major problem is looming\u00a0 ahead . It is the sharp\u00a0 increase in the rate of school drop – outs . It will be a big challenge\u00a0 to Mukti and to you all\u00a0 to bring back to\u00a0 school\u00a0 the students who have been\u00a0 away from\u00a0 education\u00a0 for\u00a0 almost two years when the schools\u00a0 have been\u00a0 closed\u00a0 . This break in continuity will be very difficult\u00a0 to make up. So Mukti has planned some programs to tackle this issue. We are about to start a project called Teachers Training Module in association with\u00a0 some other organizations\u00a0\u00a0 . This is the outcome\u00a0 of serious\u00a0 research\u00a0 done for the last two months with ten teachers of the Hindu Academy\u00a0 . The basics\u00a0 of different\u00a0 subjects\u00a0 which the\u00a0 students\u00a0 must learn to make them eligible for\u00a0 the next class will be given utmost priority . Here it is\u00a0\u00a0 important\u00a0 to categorise\u00a0 students into 3 groups keeping the\u00a0 present situation in mind\u00a0 . Firstly\u00a0 , those students who\u00a0 with\u00a0 family\u00a0 support\u00a0 and digital help have been\u00a0 able to\u00a0\u00a0 continue on- line school\u00a0 education\u00a0 . Secondly\u00a0 , those who are in an\u00a0 intermediary\u00a0 situation\u00a0 , with\u00a0 some access\u00a0 to electronic\u00a0 media , if not much .\u00a0 The third group is those who have been totally deprived of any help. Our concern is this third group. If they\u00a0 are segregated and taught\u00a0 as a separate\u00a0 group , it may give rise to a sense\u00a0 of\u00a0 inferiority\u00a0 complex\u00a0 leading to\u00a0 an unwillingness\u00a0 to join school\u00a0 . So we have to be especially careful in handling them when schools reopen. Another important factor to us is giving students\u00a0 an all round education or value\u00a0 education\u00a0 , not only a career oriented\u00a0 education .\u00a0 We have been\u00a0 trying to\u00a0 lay the\u00a0 foundation of\u00a0 a value based\u00a0 education\u00a0 system\u00a0 and we need your help to sow the seeds of\u00a0\u00a0 morality and\u00a0 high values in\u00a0 the\u00a0 young minds\u00a0 .\u00a0 A successful\u00a0 life cannot\u00a0 be measured by\u00a0 money only\u00a0\u00a0 , and this has to be realized by them . From\u00a0 here will be born a future\u00a0 Vidyasagar\u00a0 or Swami Vivekananda\u00a0 .\u00a0 This will not be possible without your active help.<\/p>\n
In conclusion\u00a0 , l want to say\u00a0 that we may have\u00a0\u00a0 difference\u00a0 of opinion\u00a0 in different\u00a0 matters\u00a0 , in future\u00a0 also there will be disagreement\u00a0 amongst us , but at the end of the day, may we forget our\u00a0 differences and take a united stand\u00a0 . Let there be peace. While we take many different routes in our search for God, many will agree that the realization of God is born out of a glimpse of the infinite that comes about when there is a synthesis between the tangible material universe and our conscious knowledge of its wonders. And you, head teachers, are the repository of that eternal knowledge. I personally think that your combined knowledge is greater than that of any one great individual seer of truth. You must pledge to not let that great collection of knowledge be divided due to differences of opinion.<\/p>\n
Come forward together, let us work together. Its benefits will not only come to your livelihood or life personally, it will benefit society as a whole. I end by I wishing you all the best, and by wishing you good health.<\/p>\n
